Your Story Matters.

How you tell your story matters.

Integrative StoryWorks offers a physical experience through personal and collective stories and practicing embodied empathy by using expressive arts and applied theatre to build empathetic, resilient, and healthy individuals, groups, and communities.

The Integrative StoryWorks (ISW) Process

  • GATHER.

It all begins with stories. We are the stories we tell about ourselves, both personally and collectively. To make change, we must know and understand these stories and how they impact us. The beginning of every Integrative StoryWorks (ISW) process is gathering stories.

  • CRAFT.

Once we have gathered our stories, we can begin to creatively shape them. Through various art mediums (painting, movement, improv, storytelling, etc) we begin to understand that stories can be reframed and that we are their authors. How have the stories of your past shaped who you are today? How would you like your future stories to play out? The arts are a perfect tool to begin to understand our stories and to take authorship of them.

  • EXPRESS.

The final and integral part of the Integrative StoryWorks process is expression. ISW does not stop after we have explored and taken ownership of our stories. Here, we have an additional end goal in mind; The expression of our stories, our journey. Our stories need to be shared. In ISW, we believe in the reparative witness. This fundamental part of integrating our work can happen in various ways such as a public performance for 100, an intimate showcase for 15, or even an invited audience of 2. What is important is that we authentically express ourselves and are empathetically witnessed.
